Start a Program


You have lots of options in starting a planned giving program, so think strategically before you start. Answer thse questions and follow the links indicated by your answers to find appropriate next steps. If you haven't already, ask the right questions first.

1. Read these two articles: "How to Start (or Beef Up a Planned Giving Program with (Almost) No Budget"Part I and Part II.

2. Do those things.

3. If you haven't already, be sure to communicate what you're doing and why (which you'll get from the articles).

4. To make the presentation stronger, add to it the strengths you uncovered in the organizational readiness self-quiz and the opportunities and motivations you uncovered in the strategic isues questions. Be sure to think strategically too.

5. If you want to do more, look at the other articles in the Library of Helpful Articles.

6. If you really now want to get going in a very intensive way, review the components of a successful program.

7. Pick the things you think need work first, review the information I've provided and start to work.
